Big Breakfast in Blantyre

We had a great morning at Auchinraith Primary School in Blantyre, where the whole school took part in the Scottish Grocers Federation ‘Big Breakfast’, which is part of their Healthy Living campaign. The children had the opportunity to try a variety of healthy breakfast options including Hamlyns Scottish Porridge, Weetabix, toast and a wide variety of fruits.

SGF organised the event in partnership with award-winning convenience retailer Mo Razzaq, owner of Premier Mo’s and Family Shopper in Blantyre.

Healthy Living is a Scottish Government sponsored programme which aims to increase the range, quality and affordability of fresh produce and other healthier products in convenience retail stores across Scotland, focusing in particular on communities within areas of deprivation.

The campaign is one of many activities which work towards the goals set by the Scottish Government to improve the health of the Scottish Nation and reduce obesity.

As part of this SGF advise convenience retailers how to promote healthy foods in store. More than 1,800 convenience retailers in Scotland are already on board.
