The Federation encourages and arranges Burns’ competitions, including competitions for schools, stimulates the development, teaching and study of Scottish literature, art, music and language, helps to conserve buildings and places associated with Burns, and has over 250 member Burns’ clubs worldwide. The Federation’s ‘Burns Chronicle’, is one of the oldest continuing literary publications in Scotland.

If you’re interested in learning more about the poems, songs and legacy of Robert Burns, you might be interested in a new three week online course which is being launched on 25 January by the Centre for Robert Burns Studies at the University of Glasgow in partnership with FutureLearn. Learners will explore Burns’ history, and what made him a poetic genius and worldwide icon. The course is free and open to all, and would be suitable for anyone with an interest in Robert Burns, Scottish history and culture, or traditional Scottish poetry and song.
