Taste of Grampian

We’re getting geared up for Taste of Grampian, Scotland’s biggest one-day food festival, which takes place at the Thainston Centre in Inverurie a week on Saturday (1 June). Last year was a scorching hot day, and we have our fingers crossed for more of the same this year!

Taste of Grampian is a great day out for the whole family, allowing visitors to discover and sample a wide range of high-quality food and drink products from Grampian and the North East of Scotland.

The celebrity chef demos are always one of the biggest highlights of the day. This year’s chefs include John Torode, host of BBC Masterchef, Made in Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews who was a finalist in last year’s Celebrity Masterchef, Scotland’s National Chef and former Masterchef winner, Gary Maclean, and Helen Vass who was part of the winning team in BBC 2’s Creme de la Creme in 2016.

More than 200 exhibitors will be offering a huge range of products from smoked salmon to shortbread, ice cream, prime meats and fantastic fish, creamy fudge, jams and chutneys, whisky, spirits and much more.

You’ll find the Hamlyns of Scotland team at stand 108 on the main concourse.

As well as exhibiting, Hamlyns are delighted to be sponsoring the children’s educational marquee, where there will be lots to entertain younger visitors throughout the day. We’ll be joined by Garioch Community Kitchen, who will be helping the children to make Breakfast Cranachan, a healthy way to start the morning, made with toasted oats, fruit yoghurt and local strawberries and raspberries.

We’ll also have cupcake decorating with some of the staff from Hoodles playbarn in the middle of the day.

Other activities in the children’s marquee include demonstrations of grinding oats, smoothie bikes, a demonstration milking cow, badge making, a healthy eating quiz, drawing and colouring, games, and the opportunity to see a variety of tractors and farm equipment, as well as animals up close including pigs, ponies, lambs, chickens, ducks and a cow.

Drop in any time during the show – it’s all free of charge.

Elsewhere in the show you’ll find a live music, street performers, the P&J motor show, arts and crafts and lots more to ensure a fun-packed day for all.

Check out the full programme.

Tickets on the day are £10 for adults (under 16’s go free) or save £2 by booking in advance here, where you can also book celebrity chef demos.

We hope you see you there!
