Taste of Grampian

We’re making our final preparations for Taste of Grampian, Scotland’s biggest one day food festival, which takes place at the Thainston Centre in Inverurie this Saturday (2 June).

Highlights include demonstrations by celebrity chef James Martin, and Scotland’s National Chef and former Masterchef winner, Gary Maclean, as well as demos by a host of local chefs.

The event will showcase more than 200 exhibitors from across the North East, offering a huge range of products from smoked salmon to shortbread, ice cream, prime meats and fantastic fish, creamy fudge, jams and chutneys, whisky, spirits and much more.

You’ll find us at stand 108 on the main concourse.

As well as some great show offers, we have a competition to win one of our lovely Perfect Porridge packs, packed with Hamlyns products and exclusive china and textiles from Scottish designer Gillian Kyle. We’ve three prizes to give away at the show, so come and see us to get an entry form.

Hamlyns are delighted to be sponsoring the hands-on kids cookery in the children’s educational marquee once again. We’ve been joined by Garioch Community Kitchen, and the team will be helping the children to make a Fruity Oat Crunch, a simple desert made with toasted oats, yoghurt, bananas and locally grown strawberries from Barra Berries.

Drop in any time between 9.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4.30pm. It’s all free of charge.

As well as the hand-on cookery, Marine Scotland are running a Fish ID session from 12.30pm – 1.30pm, allowing the children to see different types of fish, and try a simple quiz to see how much they know about the fish that come from Scotland’s waters.

Other activities in the children’s marquee include demonstrations of grinding oats and pressing oil seed rape to make oil, a smoothie bike and the opportunity to see a variety of animals up close including Zwarble sheep, pigs, a Shetland pony and foal, chickens and ducks.

Elsewhere in the show you’ll find a craft marquee, a motor show, dancers, magicians, musicians and pipe bands. For the adults there are several Masterclasses including classes with wine, gin and beer. Check out the full programme.

We hope to see you there!
