Preheat the oven to 190ºC/ 375ºF/ Gas 5 and lightly oil an oven proof dish.
Steam or boil the swede and carrot until just cooked. Drain if necessary, then mash or liquidise with the margarine, eggs and milk and season to taste with the salt and pepper. Place in the dish. Mix the oats and cheese and sprinkle on top. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes then serve at once.
